One of the most popular and well-known video games ever, Minecraft Legends has progressively grown into a strong brand with toys, books, merchandise, and more. With the introduction of games like Microsoft Dungeons, Gaming Studios has also brought the world of Minecraft into other video genres. The renowned developers of Minecraft are now focusing on the developing action-strategy genre.
The upcoming Minecraft spin-off game, called Minecraft, is unlike anything else we’ve seen from Gaming Studios thus far. Here is all we currently know, including information on the gameplay, and release dates.
Release Date of Minecraft Legends
According to information provided at the most recent Xbox Developer Direct, Minecraft Legends will launch on April 18, 2023. Let’s hope I haven’t just jinxed it and wish it a smooth launch because this is one of the few big launches in 2023 that hasn’t yet seen any delays.
Platforms of Minecraft Legends
The Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 will all receive Minecraft Legends in addition to the PC. This is one of the very few games that will be released simultaneously on every major system on April 18, 2023, regardless of platform.

Is There Multiplayer in Minecraft Legends?
Yes! According to Xbox, Minecraft Legends will support cooperative and multiplayer competition. Additionally, we learned about Minecraft Legends‘ PVP mode during the Xbox Developer Direct. In this mode, you compete against another base-building team and attempt to destroy their base before they can do the same to you. The Piglins also showed that they don’t simply watch PVP matches from the sidelines, but they actively sought to defeat both teams.
We can quite confidently assume that there will be cross-platform multiplayer between PC and Xbox players in terms of cross-play. It seems reasonable to assume that Mojang will push for cross-platform multiplayer with Legends at launch since it eventually introduced it to Minecraft Dungeons for PC and all platforms.
Is Minecraft Legends on Game Pass?
On the day of its release, Minecraft Legends will be available on Game Pass. This means that if a player has a subscription, they will be able to play it for free on Microsoft’s platforms (PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360).

Who’s developing Minecraft Legends?
As it turns out, Mojang is not the one creating Minecraft Legends. Actually, it is being developed by Blackbird Interactive, the company behind the RTS Crossfire.
Though it isn’t being handled by the in-house team, it sounds like it’s in capable hands because Mojang claims that BBI has a staff especially committed to working on Minecraft Legends.
